The Ministry of Municipality announced yesterday that all five winter vegetable markets are set to reopen starting Thursday, 11 November 2021. The announcement, which was shared on the Ministry’s social media platforms, stated that the Al Wakrah, Al Shamal, Al Khor and Al Thakhira, and Al Sheehaniya markets will open their doors at the end of the week.

The Ministry—which represented the Department for Agricultural Affairs for this announcement—said that customers can visit the markets between 7 am to 3 pm, Thursday to Saturday. On the other hand, the fifth market opening this season, Al Mazrouah, will open the following week on 18 November 2021 in its new location, Umm Salal Central Market.

The Ministry emphasised that the markets will carry local, farm-grown products and shared a slogan encouraging people to buy local on the announcement poster.

In addition to those five, other outdoor markets selling locally-grown products that have recently opened include Msheireb Market by Torba, located along the Sikkat Al Wadi walkway in Msheireb Downtown. Plus, the fifth edition of the original Torba Farmers Market in Education City is expected to resume soon, according to Torba’s Instagram page.
