The annual Qatar Summer Festival is back. Hosted by Qatar Tourism Authority, the month-long, family-friendly festival takes place throughout Qatar. It includes activities such as live shows, performances, shopping promotions and crafts. Details are still to come, but past-year celebrations have lasted the entire month of August and included an “Entertainment City” with loads of fun indoor activities like rock climbing, skateboarding, crafts and games.

For families that love to explore, geocaching is a like global treasure hunt. Just download the geocaching app, pick a geocache nearby and set out on your treasure-hunting adventure. There are more than 700 geocaches in Qatar and millions more around the world, so you can participate no matter where you are. Don’t forget to bring along a pen to sign your name and a small treasure of your own to leave for the next person.

On the 14th night of the holy month of Ramadan, children all over Qatar will celebrate Garangao. Donning traditional Qatari garments, they will knock on their neighbours’ doors and receive gifts of sweets and nuts. Last year, Qatar Foundation, Katara, Aspire and several malls around the country hosted Garangao events that included traditional games, entertainment and goody bags. From now until the first week of June, families can sign up for a guided tour of the Qatar Museums exhibition, What About The Art? Contemporary Art From China, at Gallery ALRIWAQ. The tours run every Saturday from 3 pm to 5 pm. Following the tour, children can participate in a workshop where they will make their own clay sculptures. The event is free, but you must register to attend.
