Living in Qatar amid a global pandemic has seen many changes implemented across the state to keep citizens and residents safe during these unprecedented times.

With restaurants and hotels closed as we all practice social distancing, staying in has become the new going out. While some of you may be budding chefs using this time to perfect your signature dish, others are probably getting a bit sick of burning cheese on toast. If you’re the latter, never fear! Because the hospitality industry across Doha won’t let you down. Begone, burnt cheese on toast, and step up to the plate delicious fine dining delivered directly to your door.

Not only are you now able to indulge in the fine dining experience at home, but many outlets are also offering discounts on orders. Either they’re slicing off a percentage of the original price, or they’re allowing customers to use their Entertainer vouchers. Ordering in doesn’t have to be as expensive as you think.

Delivery Apps

The beauty of food delivery apps is that you don’t just have one restaurant at your fingertips, but a multitude to choose from.

Talabat: Operating across seven countries in the GCC, this online food-ordering service helps you find restaurants local to you. It also offers a range of filter options, such as cuisine, minimum order amount, ratings, and fastest delivery. Talabat is available in both desktop and mobile app formats, and you can track your order from the moment you place it until it arrives on your doorstep. Standard delivery is QR 10, but many restaurants are waiving this fee during this time.

Fee: QR 0 to QR 10

Payment: cash or card

Carriage: This app uses a similar operating model to Talabat where you can filter restaurants based on various choices, and track your order from placement to arrival. Standard delivery is also 10QR per order.

Fee: QR 0 to QR 10

Payment: cash or card

Hotels

While many of Doha’s restaurants have been offering home delivery for some time now, Doha’s hotels have largely remained dine-in only. With many fabulous five-star offerings across Doha, we have been spoilt for choice when going out. But now that staying in is “in”, many of our favourite hotels have also jumped on the delivery wagon, which means that you can have that five-star experience at home. Reducing your transport costs and availing some of the fantastic offers available, it doesn’t have to be as expensive as you think.
