The Ministry of Public health (MOPH) has shared posters on its social media platforms to remind the public to stick to Covid-19 precautions in different public spaces and to stay vigilant about food safety in shops. The coronavirus-related graphics contain guidance for gatherings in mosques, shopping malls, boats, hairdressers, public transport, as well as social meetups. In addition to emphasising the obligation to wear masks and keep a distance of 1.5 metres from others, the MOPH also provided other situation-specific recommendations, such as:

  • Limiting the time spent in shopping malls.
  • Choosing outdoor venues for social gatherings where possible.
  • Avoiding physical contact with others in mosques.
  • Buying metro and bus tickets online.
  • Pre-booking salon and barber appointments.

As Covid-19 cases remain stable, the MOPH has continued to stress the essential role of community compliance with safety measures in keeping infection rates under control. On Sunday 6th December 2020, the number of new community cases of Covid-19 recorded by the MOPH had dipped under 100 for the first time in months.

The MOPH has also shared posters with food safety precautions for the public to take when buying groceries. These include advice to shop in clean and reliable outlets and to make sure to only buy frozen goods that have been stored properly.
