While obtaining a private vehicle driving license in Qatar has numerous steps and processes, renewing your Qatari driving license is simple and swift. If you need to replace a lost or damaged license, the process is the same.

Driving licenses for non-Qatari residents are valid for five years and cost QR 250. They can be renewed up to six months before their expiry date.

To renew your license, you will need to do the following:

Pay your traffic violations

Before you renew, make sure your traffic violations are paid. You can pay them in person at the Traffic Department or one of the Ministry of Interior (MOI) service offices around Qatar, at an MOI self-service machine, on the Metrash2 mobile app, or through the Hukoomi website (portal.www.gov.qa).

Renew your license in person

You can renew your license in person at the Traffic Department or at an MOI service office. Just bring your driving license and a debit or credit card to pay the QR 250 fee.

Renew your license online

Licenses can also be renewed online through the MOI E-Services website (eservices.moi.gov.qa) or the Metrash2 app. You will need a credit card to pay the QR 250 fee.

Despite the stress that often comes with driving in Qatar, it should be a relief to know that the process to renew your license is easy and headache-free.
