The Ministry of Interior (MOI) announced that citizens and residents of GCC countries would be permitted to enter Qatar through all points of entry without a Hayya Card. This decision was effective Tuesday, 6 December.

According to the MOI, this means that GCC travellers entering the country by air would be able to do so without registering on the Hayya platform. Those travelling across the land border by bus will also be able to cross the border without a Hayya card, and parking for those vehicles will be free. However, visitors who wish to enter with private cars will have to wait until 8 December and apply for a permit on the MOI website at least 12 hours before travel. This permit is free of charge

The MOI has stated that this decision aligns with Qatar’s efforts to give visitors from the GCC a chance to enjoy the atmosphere of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, its matches, and the entertainment activities available throughout the tournament. Nevertheless, the MOI confirms that the Hayya card requirement still stands for all visitors who want to watch live matches in stadiums.
