Book Bites: The City of Ember

The City of Ember is the first book of the Book of Ember series. It is about the dying city of Ember. The city is underground, so if the lights die then people couldn’t live there because they wouldn’t be able to see. But the blackouts are getting longer and electricity is getting worse so the main characters, Lina and Doon, start looking for a secret exit out of Ember. Lina thought they could get out by finding the worn out instructions the city builders left behind, but time was ticking because the lights were dying so Lina and Doon had to work fast. When Lina and Doon found the instructions, Lina went to show the mayor, but he sent her away. Later he sent a search party after them because he said they were spreading false rumours, so Lina and Doon had to leave Ember.

I loved this book, as it included adventure and excitement. I am sure you will too if you decide to read The City of Ember.
