Post-World Cup Transport Updates Announced

FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 came with a series of transport changes to streamline
movement to matches and popular tourist destinations. Now, the games may be over,
but winter break is still in full swing for many families, so you might be wondering what
getting to your favourite spots will look like in the next few weeks. Here are a few key
updates from this week:

Doha Metro and Lusail Tram

Doha Metro and Lusail Tram announced the new operating hours for the Doha Metro,
which are effective as of 20 December 2022, and they are as follows:

  • Sunday to Wednesday: 5:30 am to 11:59 pm
  • Thursday: 5:30 am to 1:00 am
  • Friday: 2:00 pm to 1:00 am
  • Saturday: 6:00 to 11:59 am

Additionally, Family and Gold Class carriages will be reinstated on 23 December 2022,
which is also the last day that Hayya Card holders can travel on the metro for free. All
passengers must purchase travel cards and travel on the carriages that match their
cards from 24 December 2022. For more updates, visit qr.com.qa or follow
@metrotram_qa on Twitter and Instagram or @metrotram.qa on Facebook.

Doha Corniche

The Supreme Court for Delivery and Organisation Tweeted on its @roadto2022go
Twitter account that Corniche Street had partially reopened to vehicles at 5:00 pm on 19
December 2022. This means that cars can now travel in a one-way direction from the
Sheraton Intersection to the Ras Abu Abboud intersection. The street will fully reopen
on 25 December 2022.

Lusail Boulevard

Qatari Diar, the real estate company that owns Lusail City, announced that Lusail
Boulevard will remain exclusive to pedestrians until 7 January 2023. According to Lusail
City’s Twitter account (@LusailCity), this decision was made due to the area’s
immense popularity during FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. Visitors will still be able to
access the roads to and from the boulevard with their cars until then.
