Maktaba Announces World Cup Reading Challenge

Maktaba Children’s Library announced on Tuesday that it will launch a FIFA World Cup-themed reading challenge starting 20 November 2022. The challenge, titled 32 and You, aims to get kids to read books and participate in activities representing the 32 nations competing in the upcoming tournament. It is expected to last four weeks.

Challenge Schedule

Each week’s activities will focus on eight countries, and this will take place as follows:

Week One – Qatar, Spain, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Senegal, Germany, The Netherlands, and Japan

Week Two – England, Belgium, Iran, Canada, The United States of America, Morocco, Wales, and Croatia.

Week Three – Argentina, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Mexico, Switzerland, Poland, and Cameroon.

Week Four – France, Portugal, Australia, Ghana, Denmark, Uruguay, Tunisia, and South Korea.

Where to Learn More

Anyone planning to participate in the reading challenge must book their visit at maktaba.org. There are separate sections for members and non-members to do this at the bottom of the homepage.

Maktaba is open from 9:30 pm to 4:30 pm, and daily storytime sessions take place at 10:30 am and 3:30 pm. Please note that doors only open at 9:30 pm and 2:30 pm. You can also follow @maktabaqatar on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for updates or call 4427-8810.
