We polled our readers to learn more about their lives and their parenting experiences in Qatar. Here’s what they have to say.

1) Gender: 87% Female and 13% Male

2) Top Five Nationalities: 1- India 2- United kingdom 3- The Philippines 4- Pakistan 5- Portugal

3) Employment: 1- 50% Work outside the home 2- 41% Stay at home 3- 9% Work from home

 

4) Length of time in Qatar: 1) 10+ years: 35% 2) 1–4 years: 30% 3) 5–9 years: 30% 4) > 1 year: 8%

5) Marital Status: 1) Married: 98% 2) Separated: 1% 3) Single:1%

 

6) Age:
Most common age group is 30–39 (53%) Followed by 40–49 (35%), 20–29 (8%), and 50–59 (5%)

 

7) Number of Children: 72% have one to two children

 

8) Children’s ages: 1- 6–12 (40%) 2- 3–5 (35%) 3- 0–2 (9%) 4- 13–19 (14%) 5- 20+ (1%)

 

9) Just over 50% have said their children were born in Qatar

 

10) Life Satisfaction: 64% are at least satisfied with their lives in Qatar

 

11) Family Time: 75% feel they spend enough time with their families

 

12) Making Friends: 35% agree that it’s easy to meet and befriend other families, 29% somewhat agree, 15% somewhat disagree, 8% disagree, 7% strongly disagree, 5% strongly agree

 

13) Satisfaction with School Choices: 40% are at least satisfied with the school choices available in Qatar, 29% are strongly satisfied, 13% are somewhat dissatisfied, 10% are dissatisfied, 8% are very dissatisfied

 

14) Activities:

a) 40% are somewhat satisfied with the activity choices available for their children
23% are satisfied
13% are dissatisfied
10% are somewhat satisfied
8% are very satisfied
6% are very dissatisfied

 

b) Types of activities their children are interested in:

82% are interested in sports
64% are interested in arts
44% are interested in gaming
32% are interested in STEM

 

15) Quality of Life:

66% wish their children had better social lives
51% want to improve their finances
35% wish their own social lives were better
34% want better work/life balance
