Doha Corniche to Hold Eid Celebrations

Qatar Tourism (QT) announced that the Doha Corniche will be the centre of bustling Eid celebrations between 03 May 2022 and 05 May 2022. The three-day festival, known as Eid in Qatar, will include a variety of activities suitable for all age groups, including the region’s first giant balloon parade.

Events Schedule

According to QT’s website, visitqatar.com, the festivities will continue each day between 4 pm and 11 pm. Visitors will be free to roam and sample food and beverage kiosks and enjoy carnival games at almost any time during the event. However, highlights like the balloon parade, fireworks show, and music concerts are expected to run at set times. The full events schedule is available at visitqatar.qa/intl-en/events/eid-in-qatar.

Transport Considerations

Qatar News Agency reported that the Ministry of Interior (MOI) announced that Doha Corniche Road would be closed during this time, reopening again on 06 May 2022. Because of this, there have been plans to make other ways of getting to the corniche possible. For starters, all metro stations, including those serving the corniche, will remain operational. There will also be pedestrian paths at the corniche and seven new “park and ride” facilities near the Education City, Al Qassar, and Al Wakra metro stations. The MOI urges the public to cooperate with the traffic police during this time and follow the diversion routes set out.
